Message From the Director
I am Dr. Darlene Lynch. As Director, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Web site of the Indiana University School of Social Work on the Northwest campus. We are part of a School of Social Work that was founded in 1911, the oldest university-based social work school in the country. We are very proud that our school is ranked 26th in the country.
On the Northwest campus both the graduate, Master of Social Work, and the undergraduate, Bachelor of Social Work, degrees are offered. The BSW program builds upon a liberal arts, general education foundation to prepare graduates for entry level social work practice. The MSW program offers a foundation and intermediate curriculum followed by one of three areas of concentration: Mental Health and Addictions, Health, or School Social Work.
The School of Social Work on the Gary campus is housed within the College of Health and Human Services with its strong emphasis upon inter-professional education (IPE). This commitment to inter-professional collaboration provides students with unique opportunities to interact and learn with medical and nursing students.
The social work faculty are seasoned social work practitioners and researchers dedicated to preparing you as a future social worker with the knowledge, values and skills you will need to practice competently. You will quickly discover our faculty is passionate about guiding, supporting, and mentoring your professional development. You will find yourself transformed by your learning experience here on our campus, and upon graduation fully prepared to make a difference in the world.
If you would like to visit the IU Northwest campus to learn more about either our BSW or MSW program, please feel free to call me at 219 980-7111 or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment.
